Netflix Indiaβs Strategy for Romance Content
The Series Head at Netflix India, Tanya Bami, explained the reason why they chose to renew this series so quickly. She further mentioned that Musafir Cafe has stolen audiencesβ hearts and hijacked the internet with conversations about its ending. So, Netflix considers this show a big part of its plan to grow the romance genre for its members.

Bami said that the dialogues, music, and characters were well received and created a deep emotional connection with the viewers. βWhen creators get romance right, thereβs more discussion than almost any other genre,β she said. So Netflix is going down the βbullishβ path of developing a diverse slate of romantic stories.

Creator Sharanya Rajgopalβs Vision for the Next Chapter
Sharanya Rajgopal is excited about the new season. She admitted that she was not ready to say goodbye to Chander, Sudha, and Preeti. Therefore, she views Season 2 as a love letter to the fans who supported the first season.
Rajgopal mentioned that she felt humbled by how viewers rooted for their favourite characters. Furthermore, she thanked Netflix for believing in the “emotional honesty” of the story from the beginning. She promised that the next chapter will address the lingering questions.
Production Details and Source Material
Musafir Cafe is inspired by characters from a popular novel written by Divya Prakash Dubey. The production involves a partnership between Terribly Tiny Tales (TTT) and Homemade Stories. Additionally, Ruchir Arun, known for his work on Little Things, continues as the director for the series.
The first season used two different timelines to tell its story. One timeline followed Chanderβs passionate relationship with Sudha in 2018. Meanwhile, the second timeline showed his connection with Preeti in 2026. The season finale brought these emotions together at the Musafir Cafe. Chandar had to face his unresolved feelings, and Sudha prepared to move to Singapore.
